Our school is part of a 1,500 sq mile school district and is in the furthest southern corner- faraway from the city proper so it is rural and removed. We have mostly Hispanic students but also have Native American students as well. I have 90 art students daily in grades 6-8. We are in a low-income school that is 100% free lunch. My art class has extremely limited supplies and we are constantly using recycled materials and donated supplies. We count out paper and pencils, sharpies and erasers. Nothing goes to waste and materials are kept neat and orderly. My classes range from 15-30 students. The kids are a great bunch and are very patient with our lack of supplies. But they are kids and really want to do more than make stuff with toilet paper rolls and egg cartons. They want to play with color and texture. I haven't been able to give them that experience because I have a very small amount of supplies.
