My students left my classroom on a Friday, ready for the weekend, and never came back to school. As a teacher, someone who loves being around my first graders and guiding them through a variety of new skills and knowledge, that was by far one of the most staggering realities of this pandemic. My students needed me. I needed them. That was the last day they would ever be in my class. As we walk into the unknown, I do know trying to educate kids both in the classroom and through distance learning will be the biggest obstacle I've faced in my teaching career.
