Traditional seating in public school classrooms is not conducive to promote engagement and learning. Sitting in hard chairs at desks or tables for extended periods of time makes keeping students engaged more difficult. I want to provide beanbag chairs, floor seats and wobble chairs for students who need to wiggle. Finding ways to remove barriers to learning can be a simple solution, like where one sits. With this in mind, I would like to provide choices for children to have a place in the classroom that works best for them. Students need an opportunity to be comfortable and/or wiggly while they learn. By providing choices for different seating options, students can find what works best for them.
