Everyone has their favorite place to sit and read or to do work. Imagine having to read or complete work in a cold, hard, uncomfortable desk--not a pretty image! Working in an environment that reminds you of home or that is relaxing can improve your retention rate and attention span. Currently, my classroom does not use overhead lighting and has a reading corner with a couch and a lounge chair. As of today, my students are constantly fighting to be able to sit in these places. I have witnessed the most challenging students doing more work in those spaces than in my entire time teaching. Having these chairs and lap desks will allow my students to learn in an atmosphere that is comfortable to them. Please help me transform my classroom into one that fosters creativity and sparks innovation.
