I will be setting up my office to be a place for kids to have a break from stress, whether this is stress from school or from home life. We are returning to full in-person learning for the rest of the year, and many students are nervous about that transition. I want to have comfortable chairs for the students to sit in, items to help them destress such as a sequin pillow, stress balls, and my own glitter jars. I also find that many students like to draw or color while talking, and printing off calming worksheets and coloring pages is most effective. Lamps, chairs, and pillows will make the office feel less like their classroom, and a lap desk means they can sit in a comfortable chair instead of at the table in my office. A laminator will help me put up activities in my office. Feed Your Worries in the Worry Whale is one activity I would love to put up for my younger students to use.
