My classroom is set up to be an open and engaging room all about music; posters of instruments, artists and musical instruments hang on the wall. There is one part of the room that has always been problematic for instruction and I have not found a way to make it more functional and pleasing to my students; the floor. Years back, a teacher created lines with duct tape on the floor to teach the design of a music staff. Although a good idea at the time, over the years the duct tape has worn off and with it the carpet. I have been left with lines that are either partially torn up duct tape or lines of extremely worn out carpet. This situation makes it difficult to provide group instruction as we don't have desks and nearly always sit on the floor. If my classroom were to receive a rug, which would add to the welcoming atmosphere i try to create, my students would notice the improved aesthetic appearance in my roo
