Given the opportunity to have flexible seating in the classroom would allow students to take control and responsibility for their learning. During the day and even in small groups instruction, students would choose a seat in the classroom that would benefit their learning as much as possible such as sitting on the floor, sitting on stability balls, or standing desks. Making sure students have voice and choice in their learning is an essential component of having consistent motivation. I have noticed the difference in my students when they are given a choice and voice for their seating arrangement. When students have these opportunities in the classroom there is a noticeable difference in engagement with their work.
The products I have selected will help my students by giving additional seating choices to make their learning experience more successful. The tables I have enough space for individual students to be able to work independently but also allows for group work and collaboration. Within these tables, I plan to use stability balls, which I already have, buckets or crates, and the mats that you see on the list. The risers will be beneficial to have those standing desks that some students need in order to stay focused or to stretch their legs if needed.
