My students live in an area that is economically challenged. They often come to third grade with very little exposure to quality literature. However, my students are eager to learn. They enjoy listening to books, and take great pride in reading independently and with others everyday. Despite the fact that my students come from a high needs community, their parents are supportive. The parents want their children to leave third grade with a solid literacy background that will allow them to succeed in the years to follow.
