Because we lack a traditional theatre space on our campus, we scramble each year to find adequate rehearsal and performance spaces for our shows, and especially our UIL One-Act Play for competition. By switching from traditional classroom desks to folding tables, we can transform our theatre arts classroom into a flexible learning space that can also accommodate rehearsals and performances. Folding tables will be much easier to clear out and store during performances. They also will more easily accommodate/encourage group seating and collaboration. In addition, folding tables in the size I'm requesting provide a much better base for working on scenery, costume, and other technical theatre projects. They're easier to cover for painting projects, and can more easily adjust to round-table readings than the desks we currently have.
