As the only science teacher in our middle school, I differentiate lessons for a huge variety of learners. Since I am often the only adult in the room, my goal is to run the classroom so that all of our needs are met harmoniously. After over a year of being away from a traditional classroom, all of our learners are reacclimatizing to being in a group, having patience and to getting information from each other, instead of our phones or tablets! The supplies on this list will boost my curriculum with tier one, basic physical supports for my students. My students are noticeably more engaged with their work when they can easily see the time remaining before the next activity. Providing an easy-to read visual schedule allows students to make good choices about phone use. The large classroom timer will help students build patience as we fluctuate between work time and break times. The individual timers will support group work by letting students take on timekeeping or group tasks without pulling out our phones. The fidgets toys can be used as non-disruptive rewards for students as they complete tasks. Finally the stamping supplies will provide a quick visual form of feedback for students.
