STEM center materials to increase their hands on learning opportunities to better connect curriculum concepts to real world uses and experiences in Science. Each building material chosen for this project allows students to practice and strengthen their critical thinking skills to connect their science concepts for better understanding. They use this skill and their own creativity and ingenuity to choose the best building materials for the object they need to build. This is important because different materials are better suited then others for the objects being built. These STEM center materials will give my students hands on learning opportunities that are essential to connecting science concepts to their own real world experiences and knowledge using math and engineering to get there. Students consistently tell me that hands on activities help them connect Science concepts in a more realistic way.
