These materials are crucial for building students' confidence in the areas of reading and writing. My students read two to three grade levels below, and having the chance to listen to stories gives them the opportunity to read and engage with more complex texts. They will be exposed to key sight words, and more complex vocabulary words; as well as build listening and speaking skills through active comprehension discussions. They will also be able to read a plethora of diverse books, and learn the features of fiction and nonfiction texts, while the follow- along books alleviate the stress of having to focus on- and decoding-every word.
