With elementary students, topics related to social and emotional learning can be effectively taught with books and storytelling. This project will allow me to infuse social/emotional concepts such as friendship, decision-making, worry/anxiety, etc., and incorporate literacy simultaneously with students. I hope students' love of reading and learning increase while also teaching important life skills to facilitate their growth and development. With the funding of these materials, I envision conducting classroom lessons related topics such as friendship, self-confidence, worry/anxiety, grief/loss, and others. I will also be able to utilize books and resources to conduct small groups as well as assist students individually.
