Math is not always the most-liked or the easiest subject for students. Every year, I have made it a goal to increase student engagement in my Algebra I classroom. Students love listening to music, so the speaker will allow them to do so during whole-group activities and while they are working independently. I also want to make learning more hands-on, every opportunity that I get. With the presentation pointers, students will be able to vary the way that they present. They may go up to the board to present traditionally, or have the flexibility to remain at their desk and emphasize key terms and concepts while speaking. My classroom is heavily centered on student choice, which is very important in a classroom full of self-expressive adolescents.
