Our read alouds always take place on our reading rug. The new rug I would like to obtain is big enough to fit anywhere from 20-30 students, allowing them personal space on their "special spots". Our current reading rug is worn out. It is stained, tattered and not big enough for the large class sizes we have. Last year I had fifth grade classes that had 28+ students. A new reading area rug would be a great gathering spot for our students to enjoy and talk about the books we love during whole group and small group discussions. It is often a gathering place for our students after they have chosen books to take home.
