If you were to walk into my classroom during our language arts time, you would see groups of 2 students quietly conferencing on a piece of writing, 1 to 6 students in a small group working with me, 1 student working with a volunteer tutor, and a number of individual students working silently on a laptop computers. This 3-ring circus approach is intentional and organized. I can give focused instruction for the students who need it and then provide the structured independence for students to work on their own. Headphones with microphones will allow my independently working students to practice literacy skills in the online, individually-paced literacy program we use. I'm also interested in implementing voice-to-text conversion technology to enhance the writing process in our classroom.
