If student motivation and higher engagement is truly the desired end game, then we as teachers must adapt right along with our students in our classrooms. The students we share our classrooms with are used to a dynamic, fast-paced, and an ever-changing world full of choices. I believe that our classrooms should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking that fits the lifestyle of children today...dynamic! This simply cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. I am hoping to redesign my classroom to encourage self-directed learning and collaborative problem solving. This redesign will help students learn and build essential skills for life beyond the classroom, the ultimate goal! These flexible seating options will allow me to move around the room freely and easily, connecting with students who are struggling while significantly improving the level of interaction.
