We plan to use the DSLR cameras to create photographic works of art and to photograph other 2-Dimensional works of art for exhibitions and art portfolio submissions. Photography is an area of need as it is a foundational element in the 2D Visual Arts curriculum and needed for photographing art for art portfolio submissions during the college application process. Access to the standard medium of photography is often taken for granted. We have not been able to offer photography instruction since black and white film instruction was standard. We would like to put these DSLR cameras in the hands of the student artists and guide them in learning the techniques and processes of this essential art medium. They will learn the foundations of light, exposure, composition, and more. Student artists will be able to create and photograph their own art for portfolio reviews, college applications, and scholarships. Student artists will be able to receive hands-on instruction on the art form of photography. Furthermore, we are planning a walking field trip in the City of Saginaw to find and present beautiful and unique perspectives as our building is located downtown, on the river, and in the heart of the city.
