Our middle and high school classrooms are filled with students who have emotional disturbances leading to violent outbursts, and backgrounds filled with trauma. Despite all of this, there's a prevailing belief that these students are fundamentally good kids. What they need most is love, consistency, boundaries, and guidance. Despite facing significant challenges, these students are seen as having immense potential. Society seems to push them aside and chooses to not see the mental health crisis these kids are all facing, likely at no fault of their own, but rather the circumstances from which they come.
