My students range from 4-7 years old. During this time in their development, socialization and self regulation are a huge part of classroom learning. Many of my students missed out on that opportunity last year due, to school closures and distance learning. As we open for full time school and first time school for many, it will be important for some students who are almost sure to be overwhelmed, to have a safe place to calm and regain focus while increasing their stamina for full day in person learning. This privacy nook will provide a quiet, shady outdoor area where students can rest, flip through picture books, and take a mask break. The open design will keep children in view.
