The classroom environment is important. Students feel empowered when they are given choices and have their comfort needs met in the classroom through flexible seating. To help improve the environment in my math classroom, I will give students different chair options to help fulfill their individual needs. Students who need to move during class to help them focus will be able to sit in a desk chair that swivels back and forth or sit on a yoga ball chair. Students that do best sitting up front with minimal distractions will sit in chairs low to the ground at a table that is lowered to mimic "coffee table height". High top tables/standing desk options is another choice students will have to choose from. Regular classroom chairs along with padded chairs that do no move are available for students that prefer this seating option.
