My students are learning to become bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English. We are the only Spanish Dual Immersion school in our area and my students are a reflection of their community, 50% of my class is a Spanish learner, 40% are English learners and 10% are bilingual. They are acquiring their bilingual skills at a young age not only because it is the prime time to do so, but so that they will acquire their 3rd and 4th language in the future. In order for all my students to better understand what is being taught, I need manipulatives so that they make a connection to their learning. It is nearly impossible to spark creativity with just pencil and paper for math and science. The most important job my kindergarten students have to do today is play. At this time they are very limited in what math center games or science activities they can do because of the lack of resources. Right now, math is "boring" f
