My students will focus on communication and expression through art. Students will create paintings based on social studies, science and writing units. These art materials will make a great difference in my students successfully achieving visual arts standards. Water colors will be used for notable person portraits and student books. Quality watercolors will allow students to create a greater range of values in their paintings. Watercolor paper with the proper weight and texture will accept the medium with depth and clarity. Oil pastels will be used to give students the opportunity to work with rich colors and ensure an ease of blending a variety of shades. Students will create neighborhood landscapes including a local creek and park trail. Students will have an integrated visual art portfolio to take home at the end of the year. This portfolio will include watercolor portraits of notable family members.
