Music is and has been the salvation for so many -the ticket out of an otherwise hopeless situation which for the most part is beyond a kids control. Even at the elementary level, the gift of music inspires so many. My student population is varied; racially, economically, and academically; but those percieved barriers fall away when in the musical setting - it is the universal language and universal equalizer.
