Individuals with autism often have sensory processing issues. There are certain sensory items that help these individuals regulate their senses. Once their sensory needs are satisfied, they can better focus on their academic tasks. Sensory items are crucial for my students' success. Due to the high prices of these items, it is difficult to provide all the items that my students require. My school provides one weighted blanket to my classroom but there are often many times where multiple students could benefit from the weighted blanket. The more sensory items I have to provide my students, the better regulated they will be.
