I have had the opportunity to teach grades first, second,fifth, and sixth. Too often, people familiar with my district and the area in which it is located and assume the worst about the community and its citizens. People make assumptions about my students and their ability to learn or their behavior. To those individuals who would like to make preconceived notions about my kids, I would gladly invite them into my classroom for a day and interact with them. They may not come from affluent backgrounds or have the same opportunities as other children, but they are talented and intelligent and have made improve my abilities as an educator. They are our future and need our time, dedication, and resources so we can have a successful generation of innovators, thinkers, and inventors.
