I want to add technology to my already hands on music class. These Chromebooks will be used for kids to create music, learn music basics through digital curriculum, as well as ignite student creativity and expression. These Chromebooks will not take the place of learning to play an instrument. They will simply enhance the range of music education I can provide to these students. Our school district has a digital music curriculum and having the resources will allow my students to have a personal, hands on experience with technology.
I want to have my older students create a song from scratch. using music loops and beats and then incorporating their own words. We will use the chrome books and the students will collaborate in teams and make their own masterpiece. in my younger grades I will have centers and part of those centers will be hands on physical manipulation to create a beat or respond vocally but I want to enrich this experience through the use of the curriculum our school purchased which is a digital format. I want to take the interactive part of this curriculum and place it in the students hands. It will also allow me to do assessments without pencil and paper and have a better understanding of what the students are retaining.
