With the new NGSS Science Standards I am striving to provide more STEAM projects in my classroom. I have created a unit of plant and animal life cycles. In this unit I have created learning opportunities for students to study habitats, inherited genetic traits, physical traits, and adaptations for both plants and animals. I have tried to include as much technology and art integration as possible. My students have really enjoyed it. One thing lacking is the hands on science. The use of Microscopes and slides containing plant and animals cells will enhance the STEAM portion of our Plant and Animal Life Cycle Unit. These materials will deepen their understanding of living things and enhance their experience by allowing them to be true scientists.
