There are not enough world lit titles on an English II level. The Little Prince provides a much needed title, and it is written to be understood at many different levels; grade schoolers to college students read this work. This book will allow for an easier introduction to existentialism than Camus or Sartre. While we'll still use those authors too, we need to anchor our European lit unit with a book, and The Little Prince would be excellent. This book will be used for skills taught in Unit 3 of the OK ELA rubric. There will be written and oral assessments. I would love to connect an art project with the rose.
