My second graders attend a Title I school in Virginia. Many students come from high-poverty neighborhoods in the area, and many of their families are single income dependent. In addition to not having the resources to purchase and surround themselves with books, our students often have no one at home to read, discuss, and enjoy books with them. I strive to provide a literacy-rich classroom environment that promotes reading and valuable talk. Students need access to high-interest books of varying levels and genres. And, they need opportunities to share and talk about these books with their peers. My project will create opportunities for that! Thanks for visiting my page and for considering a donation!
