Analyzing film is a regular activity in my classroom. Because we are a Fine Arts School in a high poverty district, I am constantly trying to bring fresh ideas and activities into the classroom to enhance the learning of my students. Many students are currently enrolled in drama and performing arts classes and I want to bring the fine and performing arts into the classroom through film and multimedia presentations to create an engaging expierence.
Analyzing film helps students analyze books and informative texts on a grander scale. We read a number of novels and it would be beneficial if students are able to compare and contrast film adaptations. Not only having a clear projector in which the students can watch film, but being able to use the projector to create and present multimedia presentations will develop critical thinking skills and make the classroom more interactive and exciting.
With the analyzing and presentation skills the students will gain from the use of the projector, they will be better prepared for the career and college world that lies ahead. They will be given a better chance at breaking out of the barriers of the area they currently live in.
