Reading is such a critical life skill and yet we often lose sight of that in this world of testing. To be successful, our scholars need to not only learn to read, but learn to love reading as well. Creating a reading retreat with bean bags, over-sized floor pillows and soft chairs for our students will help encourage the love of literature. Our school is promoting independent, choice reading for at least 15 minutes a day. With your donation our literacy room will be a cozy place for our scholars to spend time reading during their choice, independent reading time, before school, and during "Reading Lunch Bunch". The intervention for reading is READING! By donating to my project, you will be helping increase reading levels and promote a love of reading for the scholars in my building. As the literacy leader in my building, I want to create a literacy room that encourages our scholars to snuggle up with a good book and get lost in the joy of reading!
