Items from this Donors Choose project will be used everyday to help me as I substitute and give supports throughout the city of Pittsburgh’s Early Childhood program. Large timers are great structural tools for a classroom - they help students manage their time during play, learn the value of patience and delayed gratification, and provide visual cues for transition times throughout the day. Since I teach in a new classroom every day, name tags and permanent markers are a must. The alphabet flash cards will be used during hallway transition times. The alphabet cards will be used during longer transitional wait times, increasing their academic time on task. The social emotional book set is a wonderful resource to have everyday, as young students have big emotions, and learning about ones feelings is an important concept in Pre-Kindergarten. The Code and Go Robot Mouse is a pre-coding game that is a special treat to play and very exciting for students to use. It will be utilized for STEM and coding/computer learning, and as a reward for hard work and great behavior in class. Finally, I’ve added the suitcase to help me carry my new materials from school to school with ease.
