My kiddos are awesome. They are resilient and bright. I teach 2nd grade Special Education and coach Girls on the Run 5k for the 3rd and 4th grade. My school is a Title one charter school where 99% of our students qualify for free lunch. Our school is a safe space within our community. Over 40% of our population have faced homelessness. More face trauma at home such as parent incarceration and violence. Recently, one of my students experienced a fire in her home. Her mother suffers from depression and she is finding it difficult to cope. Getting to school is essential so she can at least have 2 meals, juice and snacks to sustain her throughout the day. This is only one story out of thousands that we serve each day. Yoga and mindfulness are the tools that I use to rejuvenate my spirit in order to continue to bring energetic joy to my school community each day. Please donate to help me pay for my yoga certification.
