The overarching question to begin the year is, "What are you made of?" We will look at our influences, the physical world, and the metaphysical world that have shaped us. There are wonderful fantasy and science-fiction books that explore similar themes. My goal is to instill a love and passion for reading in my students who do not yet see themselves as readers. What I have learned through the years is that in order to accomplish that goal, I need to have a variety of rich and interesting books available in my room. For some students that first magical book that gets them excited about reading is like a key to a lifetime of reading. The books on my list connect to our theme of study but are also well written and engaging.
