People with autism are highly visual thinkers and learners. Art therapy will help my students express themselves when they can't verbally. Art therapy will help my students to increase their attention span and self expression when creating their artwork. Students will be able to communicate their thoughts and feelings. They will improve their fine motor skills while becoming engaged with art materials. They will have the opportunity to make decisions about what materials to use at the art center while demonstrating independence, increased attention span and interaction with materials. The art center be a place where students can express themselves and show their creativity.
