Providing structured character development through the English Language Arts curriculum offered by the EL Education program and Conscious Discipline classroom management programs put an emphasis on collaboration and a sense of community in my classroom. Having a designated space to meet and practice these skills is critical. Creating a sense of community is very important in my classroom, sitting together on a carpet with your peers helps facilitate that. Kaplan early Childhood carpet will allow for assigned seats and provide a sense of organization. My students will benefit in many ways from sitting on the carpet. Kids who require a bit more wiggle space are easily accommodated on a carpet. During many classroom lessons there is a time for students to turn and talk to discuss the topic with neighbors. Sitting on the carpet allows for a variety of partners and good collaboration within the classroom.
