I want to be able to send readers home for practice as well as for use in the classroom library. We use books to help recognize sight words and generate ideas for writing. We can use sentence stems from books and create class books. Kids love reading them too. Students practice listening and reading to each other every day which enhances both receptive and expressive language. My English language learners and students in Speech therapy gain so much from this interaction. My goal is to instill a love of reading just as much as teaching them how to read.
