Prepping and teaching lessons are only half of the fun that teaching brings. The other half of a great lesson is when students get a chance to own their learning by teaching themselves and each other through centers. Centers are the cherry on the top of a great lesson. They allow students to grow as independent learners and thinkers. I am looking at adding STEM centers, reading, math, and writing centers to compliment my teaching and my students’ learning experience. When students work independently they become confident, extend their thinking, and help each other learn. I am a firm believer that when students work together they accomplish so much more. Learning from each other is invaluable.
