My students come from a low-income, low-achieving, part of California. Graduation rates are low, parent education levels are low, and the rate of students going to college is low. With that said, I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. Our school opened in 2003 and is one of 18 comprehensive schools in a district of over 32,000 students. Most of our students are Hispanic or African-American and low-income. They live in the poorest parts of our city and come from difficult situations. Our Title I office helps provide parenting classes, bilingual adult aides, after school tutoring, and other services, but our test scores and graduation rates stay about the same. Most students participate in the free and reduced lunch program. Our students are like other teenagers, they enjoy socializing and having fun. Like most schools we have students at all levels. Our AP & Honors students are fantastic and go to great schools,
