We have lots of cool centers open for students to choose from in the Loflin art studio. They practice how to set up their work space, work quietly visualizing their own ideas, and clean up their work space. I begin with demos on techniques, set up and clean up. Then students work independently on the ideas they choose. The artists are beginning their lifelong journey to visualize their unique identities and experiences in paint, clay, drawing, cardboard and wooden sculpture, architecture, printing, fiber arts and jewelry. The artists offer new visions to others with their original artwork often inspiring copies or modifications and creating organic art movements in the school. I document most of their work with photos and print, laminate and bind with a D ring for student to browse for ideas. Our guiding question is how do we build a studio community where artists feel safe to create and share their own ideas.
