My students: they're cool! I teach PreK-5th grade general music and I teach every student in the school. About 90% are African American, some special needs and some non-English speaking students. Our school was renovated 5+ years ago and it looks very nice. My music classroom is huge! My students come from various backgrounds but when they come to my class, I teach them all the same. I teach them respect more than I teach about music and I use respect to gain their respect. This makes teaching a lot easier for me because I let them know that I'm all about making sure they learn and have fun doing it. We put on great school concerts and the parents and staff are great when I need the kids for practice or a performance. They love to sing and respect me when I try new music projects such as GarageBand :-)
