We made important changes to our dual language program this year which means that my students get two and a half hours of Spanish literacy instruction each day. In addition to read-alouds and guided reading, students also spend part of that time reading independently. I am passionate about our school's mission of developing life-long Spanish readers. New readers, letter recognition tubs, and Spanish activity games for our classroom will help keep students engaged and eager to learn. They have seen the same books in every classroom every year and understandably find themselves bored. The picture books in this project will keep these readers excited about reading in Spanish.
