When they see the fine details in illustrations that support text in a book they are bubbling with questions about the story (fiction and nonfiction). They become excited about the world around them. Using a document camera to enlarge the text and illustrations on a screen enables all students to understand fiction and nonfiction books in a very personal way. They won't miss subtle details and they can spend more time focusing on plot, character and setting. When students see themselves in illustrations or text they make the stories come alive and truly retain more information. A love of learning is also a love and understanding of their importance in the world.
