My students attend a K5 to Grade 4 elementary school in a rural community of South Carolina. The students are primarily from low-income families, single parent families or homes where they are being raised by a grandparent. Students are a mixture of race, culture, and nationality, with academic and physical deficiencies. My students are confident in their abilities and enjoy learning regardless of their circumstances. The students I serve are struggling readers and require intensive intervention. Because there are so many different learning modalities, my students would benefit from applications provided through technology. We need an iPad to assist in reading intervention and literacy experiences. My students love school, even though they struggle. By supporting this project you will be helping a child feel successful and become a thriving reader with experiences they would otherwise not enjoy.
