These materials will help my students better see uses of simple machines and how they make our lives easier. They will be able to build the machines themselves with the plans included in the project and then see the fruits of their labor in action right before their eyes. We can talk until we are blue in the face about simple machines, but the bottom line is that they remember more about what they learn when they are creating and building. I have seen my students come to life when given STEM activities to do to help them learn. This, along with a suggestion from a very generous parent, is what prompted me to come to Donorschoose and build this project.
