My students are First Graders who are full of wonderment. They are inquisitive, talkative, restless, little human beings who are eager to learn. They attend a public school in a poverty stricken area. They are like little sponges who absorb everything that is taught. Many are of African, Arabic and Hispanic descent. There is a large number of students who are English Language Learners. The use of art in the classroom allows them to express their feelings when they are unable to do it through speaking or writing. It gives the freedom to express themselves freely without worrying about making any mistakes.
