Students, just like adults, are able to focus best when they are able to sit in an environment that works best for them. Studies show that when you empower students with the ability to chose their best seating they not only learn better but providing them with the ability to move wobble, lean, stand, or bounce, will increase blood flow and core strength, it increases focus and alertness. Not to mention an uncomfortable student is a distracted student. These supplies are essential to providing my students with more options for alternative seating to allow choice and build community during their school day. The lap desks would allow students to use our technology safely in a way other than at a traditional desk, and the rug would allow for more space on the floor to collaborate and work together in groups.
