My students are 10th, 11th, or 12th graders taking Physics, Physical science, or Environmental Science. They greatly enjoy ANY project that gets them out of the textbook and working on real-world questions. Unfortunately, our school is pretty limited when it comes to technology. What I hope to do is get enough laptops for small groups to work on projects, that will really get them involved in their learning! For physics, instead of problems from the book, they can analyze videos from the internet or videos that they recorded themselves. We can decide whether movie stunts could really happen, and we can predict and measure how high they can throw a baseball. These students NEED to have experience working with this kind of software before they get to physics in college, and even more importantly, they NEED to see that this physics stuff isn't just in textbooks - it is what life is made of!
