These books will give my students a chance to continue to celebrate differences in the classroom. Specifically, the chapter books "Ghost", "As Brave As You", "Out of My Mind", and "Chains" have been chosen by the students for their literature circles. Students are in charge of their literature circles and will be actively reading and discussing each book with their small group. This will allow for not only the students having a choice in their reading, but also to make learning fun! Bob Dylan once sang, "The times, they are a'changin". I believe they need to continue to change and bring awareness to diversity is a huge step. I want my students to read books with main characters who look like them because diversity is beautiful no matter the color or ability.
